In the preliminary exercise my task was to complete a front cover of a school magazine featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid out test and masthead, also a mock up of the layout of the content page.
I have produced a front cover for Lordswood Girls school and my main focus was the latest greatest achievement of the GCSE results, my image shows a student shocked and amazed on her results I have taken a medium close up in a portrait position, therefore I have met the requirement of including a medium close up of a student.
The background is blue this represents the school colour also I think that the colours used is outstanding and very eye-catching to the consumer. I followed the convection of using no more than three colours, the colours that I had chosen were white, black and blue I used these colours because they looked very striking together.
Furthermore as shown on the magazine I have a variety of strap lines and I have also included a masthead this of which follows convections of magazines.
The magazine is aimed at students at the school and any one else that wants to know how successful the results of 2008 are.
Overall I wasn’t very pleased on the front cover as it could have been more adventurous and appealing therefore for my next task I will be more creative so that my front cover looks more appealing, will do this by experimenting with Photoshop and manipulating my image by using the filters.
