Rearch for main Task

The New Musical Express (better known as the NME) is a popular music magazine in the United Kingdom which has been published weekly since March 1952. The Masthead NME sounds like enemy and gives a subversive effect and it not conform to the norm. The typography of the masthead is bold and outstanding and the colours red which connotes danger.
Furthermore the main image looks rebellious and subversive the mise en scene is street wear and the leather jacket has connotations of rock music. The tattoo on her stomach shows that she is rebellious and the fact that she is showing her skin suggest sex appeal and this also portrays the content of the magazine. She also has her arm around the NME this suggests that she relies on NME to be cool and this could attract the audience to buy the magazine as they will think if she relies on NME then they can become like her by reading NME.
The camera angle of the main image is an above high angle shot, the women is the main focus this conveys that she is the dominant one and maybe the lead singer.
The strap line “MURDER, DRUGS AND TWISTED LOVE” is dark and sinister this relates to the main image as the audience wants to know how the woman is related to a murder, drugs etc.
The magazine is not being judgement about “murder…” this give out the message that the NME don’t mind about drugs.
The strap line “f***ed up” the language is rude and again is showing rebellious, throughout the magazine the main theme is rebellious this shows that naughty and rude people would purchase the magazine.
The target audience would be 16 – 25 year olds and people that are into rock music.
